Coffee County was formed on January 8, 1836, from parts of Franklin, Bedford, and Warren Counties. It was named after Gen. John Coffee, a close friend of Andrew Jackson and a hero of the War of 1812 and the Creek (Indian) War.

There are two main cities in Coffee County, Manchester & Tullahoma. Manchester is centrally located between Nashville and Chattanooga. Approximately 60 minutes from either one. Huntsville, AL is also located within an hour and a half drive. With a unique blend of Southern hospitality and big city sophistication, Manchester and Tullahoma are great places to live, raise a family, and retire.

U.S. Air Force’s Arnold Engineering Development Center is also located in Coffee County with over 40,000 acres adjacent to both cities.

The Bonnaroo Music Festival has put down permanent roots in Manchester with the purchase of 530 acres of pristine countryside. In addition to making Manchester one of Tennessee’s largest cities for a weekend, the music and arts festival also creates a staggering economic impact on Coffee and surrounding counties.
